Live Mystery Snails for Sale – Locally Bred & Raised - Freshwater Aquarium Snails

Add a little personality to your freshwater aquarium with live mystery snails raised and bred right here at Moon Water Apothecary in Iowa. Whether you're choosing a snail for your own tank or shopping for an aquarium enthusiast, these home-raised snails bring an engaging new presence to the underwater world you've created.

• Small: approximately 10 weeks old and about the size of a blueberry.
• Medium: approximately 16 weeks old and about the size of a nickel to a quarter.
• Large: older than 20 weeks and about the size of a ping-pong ball to a golf ball.

All ages and sizes are approximate. Our mystery snails are not sexed, so male or female selection is not available. Please choose your preferred size before adding to your cart.

Mystery Snail Care

• Tank size: use a minimum of 5 gallons for one snail. Choose 10 gallons or more for several snails or a community tank.
• Lid and waterline: use a secure lid because mystery snails climb. Leave a few inches of space above the waterline for egg laying.
• Temperature: 68–84°F, with 70–78°F the preferred range for activity and longevity.
• Food: offer sinking algae wafers and blanched vegetables such as zucchini, spinach, kale and cucumber. Provide a calcium source, such as cuttlebone, to support shell health.
• Water quality: remove uneaten food after 24 hours.
• Tank mates: choose peaceful community fish such as tetras, rasboras, guppies and corydoras. Avoid loaches, puffers, cichlids and other fish known to eat snails.
